Electronic cigarettes come with many options when it comes to the mouthpiece and delivering of the e-liquid to the device.  Many terms for such devices are: atomizer, tank cartridge, cartridge and cartomizer. When electronic cigarettes first started they traditionally came with a cartridge which was fitted inside with e-liquid and wool to suspend the liquid.  This electronic cigarettes cartridge would then be placed over an atomizer heating device, the atomizer would then heat up when the electronic cigarette was used which would in turn heat up the e-liquid and create a cloud of vapour which was then inhaled.

 

The main problem with the old electronic cigarettes device was that the cartridge would only be able to hold a maximum of 0.8ml of e-liquid, this is a major problem in electronic cigarette smoking as the vapour in the cartridge would soon run out meaning the user would have to change the cartridge every 4-8 cigarettes or in other terms 40-80 inhales.  Changing an electronic cigarettes cartridge so often is firstly inefficient for the user, secondly the user would need a vast amount of cartridges to use over the day and thirdly was not cost effective as many cartridges needed to be used.  Because of this electronic cigarettes were still cheaper but many users found it annoying and would soon revert back to the traditional cigarette.

The cartomizer consists of a sealed cartridge again with wool and suspended e-liquid but this time the atomizer device is in fact built into the cartridge and the atomizer heating element is in fact a short term throwaway version.

 

The benefits of this are very strong, now the cartomizer can fit up to 1.2ml of e-liquid meaning it can now last for up to 250 puffs or 20-25 real cigarettes, this obviously is a huge advantage as now the user may only need to take two electronic cigarettes cartomizers out for the day.

Another huge benefit of using a cartomizer is that the performance is very strong, because you are using a device that is an all in one unit the performance of vapour production is perfect from start to finish. It is as good on the last puff as it is on the very first inhale. The other reason for the constant performance is because the atomizer unit is a disposable one, it means that it is new and fresh for the life of the e-liquid inside, and of course every new cartomizer will have a new atomizer device! All in all they are a better performing model and are the future of electronic cigarette smoking.
